The football story of Jerry Rice Jerry Rice is widely considered one of The greatest American football players Of all time He was born on October 13 1962 in Starkville Mississippi and grew Up in rural Crawford Mississippi Rice attended Mississippi Valley State University where he played college Football as a wide receiver In his senior year he set an NCAA Division one double a record with 27 Touchdown receptions and led the nation In receiving yards per game with 149.6 rice was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of The 1985 NFL draft and he quickly Established himself as one of the most Dominant players in the league During his 20-year NFL career rice Played for the San Francisco 49ers Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks He won three Super Bowl championships With the 49ers and was named the Super Bowl MVP in 1989. Rice holds numerous NFL records Including the most career receptions 1549 receiving yards 22 895 and total touchdowns 208 He was selected to 13 Pro bowls and was Named to the All-Pro first team 11 times Rice was also known for his work ethic And dedication to Fitness which helped Him maintain his Elite level of play
