Okay here is the number one mistake that Most linebackers make and a lot of it Starts in youth football because you're Trying to take away the run the biggest Thing that has coached at high school in A youth level that in college and the NFL you understand as an athlete is that There are no such thing as false steps You can have false steps that's the Number one mistakes that linebackers Make so what do I mean by false steps we Talked about our are really good line Back your stance and how important that Linebacker stance is okay but false Steps is when you teach for example Attacking the run first before you go to Pass the key is to be able to make your Reads effectively so you have no false Steps in the direction you're going a Lot of times we see in high school and Youth inexperienced linebacker coaches Or coaches that are trying to decide it Used to teach it in the 80s and 70s when People only ran the ball they take them To tell them to take two steps forward That's the biggest mistake that a Linebacker can make you do not take two Steps forward you read your keys and Learn how to read your keys so you can Move fast in any direction that you need To go or open up for pass when you walk Up for blitz okay it's important for us We don't want to take any false steps so Taking two false steps is the number one
Mistake that linebackers make in high School and youth and what happens is you Can't play in college if you're trying To get recruited and you're trying to Get looked at for college from a Linebacker standpoint and they see you Take you to fall steps they're gonna Have big concerns about your athleticism And how you're able to to play both to Run the past because the past game is Real important in college obviously Being able to spread off it so even in High school now with the spread offenses You take to fall steps forward you're Out of the pass game the screen game You're gone from that so it's important For you to be able to be in a good Stance to be able to take the step in The direction that you need to from the Linebacker stance and no fall steps one Way or the other always in the direction That you need to coach Shuman
