Jaelyne just finished his Sophomore Season at Toms River North High School in Toms River, New Jersey and has recently been lauded for his football excellence. Matthews has been tabbed as one of NJ’s best players in the class of 2025. He has tremendous athleticism and excellent size at his position. He has recently earned a five-star rating from NUC Sports, and is seen as not only a top guy in NJ but across the nation.
The 6.7 ‘ 290 pounder has a tremendous first step. His speed and explosiveness off the ball allow him to get into opponents before they are even out of their stance. Matthews plays a physical game, never shying from contact and always looking for work within the play. Having both above average hand strength and great hand position makes for a tough matchup with any defense.
The top 2025 recruit attributes much of his success to the hard work and dedication he put in while growing up. Jaelyne has always been a major contributor to his team, but his work ethic and natural athletic ability really began to surface as he has developed and evolved as a player on and off the field. Entering High School was a big moment for him, his team is full of talent, setting a natural bar that is higher than most teams.
Toms River North had an incredible 2022 season, finishing number 1 in the state and bringing home a state championship. They are one of the top public high school football programs in NJ. A nationally recognized program with tons of next level talent. The school constantly produces top college talent and places players at the next level.
Matthews is currently committed to Penn State but has a slew of top college football programs in the country looking for his services. His future looks bright, and it seems likely that he will gain even more recognition and success in the future. Syracuse, Ohio State, Connecticut, Rutgers, Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Florida State, and Boston College are just a few of the schools who would love to have this guy on their roster and will continue to recruit even with his verbal commitment.
