Dante Campagna: St. John Vianney Football: top 2025 WR takes home MVP hardware at Boardwalk Beasts 7v7 tryout !!!
Dante Campagna, a Junior at St. John Vianney High School in Holmdel, New Jersey has recently been rewarded for his football performance. He earned MVP honors from NUC Sports and Boardwalk Beasts 7v7 Football club, this past weekend. He is now being mentioned as one of the area’s top prospects for college football.
Campagna, a 2023 season transfer from Toms River North High School has been playing football since he was a young kid, and attributes much of his success to the hard work and dedication he put in while growing up. After making his move up the Garden State Parkway for this past fall’s football season, he finished as not only the leading WR on his team but the Division as well.
The 2025 prospect turned heads immediately with his ability to change direction and displayed tremendous athleticism as the tryout participants went through a variety of agility drills to start the work out. He has excellent quickness with a low center of gravity allowing him to make quick cuts. The ability to change direction is pivotal to a WR allowing them to get in and out of their breaks within a route.
The athleticism was easy to spot as athletes then went into individual drills where everyone was asked to participate in both offensive and defensive position specific work! Firing off the ball going forward is one thing, but the ability to stay in your back pedal and flip your hips as a defensive back is an entirely different ballgame. One which he continued to handle at a high level.
In terms of physical ability, Campagna plays bigger than he looks. His quick feet and burst off the line allowed him to get by defenders with ease. The explosion in and out of his cuts allowed him to run crisp routes making it impossible for defenders to even stay within an arm’s length. Additionally, you could tell that he has a very high football IQ, knowing when and where to put not only his body but his head and hands in order to make every catch.
Overall, Campagna dominated the day, with catches on almost every route run. He showed an ability to catch both low and high passes, ball in traffic, and separate both at the start and finish of the play. As a returning player to the Boardwalk Beasts, Year 2 should produce even more highlights. I see this young man contributing on a regular basis from both the inside and outside WR position !
