Chris Henry Jr.: Mater Dei High School Football – Newest 5 Star continues Family Legacy !!!

Chris Henry Jr., is currently a sophomore at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California after leaving Cincinnati Withrow after the 2023 season.  He has recently been lauded for his football excellence. He recently earned a five-star rating from NUC Sports, and is seen as a top 2026 prospect for college football.

Henry Jr. has been around the game of football since he was a young child, and attributes much of his success to the hard work and dedication he put in while growing up. His father, the late Chris Henry was an NFL WR with the Cincinnati Bengals coming out of West Virginia as a 3rd round pick.  The family just breeds high level athletes, his sister Seini Hicks is considered one of the top women’s basketball prospects in the 2024 class, while his younger brother Demarcus Henry is a top hooper in the 2027 class.  He started training  when he was young but took it to an entirely different level once he enrolled in high school and started to gain recognition as he developed.

Chris has always been a major contributor to his team, but his work ethic and natural athletic ability really began to shine through once High School rolled around. During this time, he proved himself to be a team leader and a reliable asset on the field. He is often the go-to player when his team is in need of a big play.

In terms of physical ability, Henry Jr.  is a natural athlete, at 6.6” 200 pounds his size is above average for a young man of his age, making him a match up nightmare for opposing defenses.  He has quick feet allowing him to win release at the line of scrimmage.   Chris is also a basketball player, using that great leaping ability to out jump opponents especially in the red zone.  His strong hands and ability to catch whatever is thrown his way makes him a top target for his QB’s no matter what school he is at.  Additionally, his strength and power are top-notch, giving him the ability to shed defenders and make the first guy miss.  Growing up around the game gives him an incredible high Football IQ.  All of these attributes helped him earn his five-star rating from NUC Sports.

Chris is now been recruited by some of the top college football programs in the country. His future looks bright, and it seems likely that he will gain even more recognition and success in the future. Mater Dei is a High School powerhouse not just in California but nationally as well.  A hard Ohio St. commit, he not only looks to continue his family legacy but that of both Mater Dei High and Ohio State who has recently produced some of the BEST college football wide receivers who have gone on to be top NFL Draft picks!!! He is sure to go far in his collegiate and professional career.

The top 2026 prospect was named an All-State Player in Ohio for the 2023 season.  He totaled 1127 yards on 71 catches with 10 TD’s in 14 games as a sophomore for Cincinnati Withthrow.

Off the field, Henry Jr. continues to be a leader both in the locker room and in the community. He is a mentor to younger players and a role model for aspiring student athletes. He is also involved in a number of community outreach programs, and he works hard to ensure a bright future for the communities he serves both in Ohio and California.

The future is extremely bright for this talented WR.  He is a game changer and play maker.  The 2026 prospect as previously stated has already verbally committed to Ohio State, but don’t think that will stop others from continuing to recruit him.  The sky’s the limit for this guy no matter what program he plays for, I look to see this young man playing on Sundays !!!
