Russell Wilson is making his Steelers Preseason debut against Buffalo um Saturday night against uh according to Coach Tomlin um he he has Justin fields On the roster as well now we've also Seen preseason games where zero of the Starters have played zero of the Quarterbacks have played um but Frank I Will start with you Russell Wilson he Had a really down year in 2022 2023 I thought he did better I Thought he did better he just didn't get Along well with um coach pton do you Think that he needs the Reps for the Steelers in 20124 do you think he needs the Preseason reps to to get comfortable in The system and do you see him playing More Than A series or two like you don't See him playing a quarter or a half or Anything like that I mean I think any Quarterback coming into a new situation Need as many reps as possible yeah I Know that the preseason especially you Know the preseason games itself is sort Of a a learning ground for your lower Draft picks or you know or your Respective first rounder free agents um You know guys that have been on the Practice squad before coming back but I I mean I think in his situation he's a Season veteran yeah yeah he season Veteran but it's but obviously from the Production that he had in the in the
Two-thirds the first two-thirds of his Career the production the last couple Years really dropped off the table he he Was better last year yes yeah he no he Was better last year but he's nowhere Near where he was in Seattle so maybe Maybe the Seattle organization knew Something about him before and they must Have the way they traded him like that And what they received but they knew Something and now you know you know yes He's on the downside of his career he You physically you have to make Adjustments but now you know physically And mentally he's going to have to make Adjustments with new receivers uh new Running backs uh new new offensive Coaching style you know the coordinator So there's a lot of changes that are Happening and I think definely yeah and I think we got to see him I mean I watch This Steeler game and they had Fields Out there you know for the most part Then brought in their other quarterbacks But you would think that he would he Would have to take a chunk of reps at Least in the first quarter first half of Games going into the regular season I Would have do it without a doubt Dave You've seen Russell Wilson play um same Thing with you I mean he's obviously With his third organization now in the Past four years a new offense but he's a Veteran and he's healthy and he he's
Gonna get reps with the first team um I've always felt his size played a Factor because he's one of the shorter Quarterbacks
