Benedict Umeh: Avon Old Farms Football – Newest NUC 5 Star has the foundation to be something out of this World !!!
Benedict Umeh, a junior at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, has recently been lauded for his football excellence. He recently earned a five-star rating from NUC Sports, and is seen as a top prospect for college football.
Umeh didn’t even play football as a young child, growing up in Ontario, Canada football wasn’t exactly the main sport. Eventually, he saw the opportunities the game could create for him and decided to try it out at West Toronto Prep. He started seriously training and began to receive recognition as he developed.
Eventually, the decision was made to make the move to Avon Old Farms, who is currently coached by former UCONN Defensive Coordinator John Wholly. “He is a genetic freak, he has all the intangibles as well, great grades, great student. He takes all honors classes and carries a 4.0 GPA!” Benedict will be a major contributor on whatever team he chooses, mainly because he has the foundation and potential to be something great. His work ethic and natural athletic ability are really beginning to shine through along with his understanding of the game as a whole. During this time, Umeh has proved himself to be a team leader and a reliable asset on the field.
In terms of physical ability, the 6.5’ 260 pound Benedict is a natural athlete. He has quick feet and is extremely powerful, making him an impactful presence on the defensive line. Additionally, his explosion and finish are top-notch. All of these attributes helped him earn his five-star rating from NUC Sports.
The 2024 prospect is now being recruited by some of the top college football programs in the country. His future looks bright, and it seems likely that he will gain even more recognition and success in the future. Stanford, Penn State, Florida, Duke, Wisconsin, Auburn, MIchigan, MIami, Notre Dame, and Texas all have offers on the table.
Off the field, Umeh is a leader both in the locker room and in the community. He is a mentor to younger players and a role model for aspiring football players not only here
but internationally as well. He gets involved in a number of community outreach programs, and he works hard to ensure a bright future for the communities he serves.
A house cannot be built without a solid foundation. The foundation is being built and I expect it to only continue. The intangibles are there along with the hard work and effort that are needed to play at the Power Five Level. Having a former Division 1 coach helps in terms of grasping a higher level of football being taught. I look for this guy to be more than impactful and only continue to get better with time.
