Anthony (Tank) Jones: St. Paul Episcopal Football – New 5 Star is Relentless !!
Anthony Jones, a sophomore at St. Paul Episcopal High School in Alabama, has recently been lauded for his football excellence. He recently earned a five-star rating from NUC Sports, and is seen as a top prospect for college football.
Tank, as he is sometimes referred to, has been athletic since he was a young child, and attributes much of his success to the hard work and dedication he put in while growing up. Once he entered High School he started seriously training and began to gain more and more recognition as he developed.
Jones has always been a major contributor to his team, but his work ethic and natural athletic ability really began to shine through in his freshman year both on the football field and the track. As just a freshman he started both ways for the football team, accounting for 130 tackles, 15 sacks, and 2 interceptions, 1 of which he returned for a touchdown. He also recorded 3 receiving td’s on the offensive side of the ball. The success continued into track season, as only a freshman min you, he placed first in the Alabama 6A shot put with a throw of 51-2.5 and placed third in discus with a 148-9 throw! During this time, he proved himself to be a team leader and a reliable asset on the field. He is often looked to when the team is in need of a spark or big play.
In terms of physical ability, Jones is a natural athlete. He has a quick first step and can win at the line of scrimmage, making him an issue for any opponent. He also creates a matchup problem because he is so versatile. Tank has the ability to line up in multiple spots with either his hand on the ground or standing up, he is your new age “EDGE” guy with a mix of speed and power! Additionally, strength and power are top-notch finishing plays and tackles with authority. All of these attributes helped him earn his five-star rating from NUC Sports.
Tank is now being recruited by some of the top college football programs in the country. His future looks bright, and it seems likely that he will gain even more recognition and success in the future. Schools such as Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, and Miami all have formal offers on the table and I only expect to see this list grow!
Off the field, Jones is a leader both in the locker room and in the community. He mentors younger students and is a constant role model for aspiring football players. He is also involved in a number of community outreach programs, and works hard to ensure a bright future for the communities he serves!
