Jake Garrett: Ocean Township High School Football : 2027 QB is back and ready to take the Next Step !!!

Jake Garrett, a member of Ocean Township High School in Ocean, New Jersey recently participated in an early off-season showcase presented by NUC Sports/Boardwalk Beasts 7v7 Football club in which he came out and put his talents on display earning himself a Top Performer award.

Garrett, the son of Kean University Head Coach Dan Garrett, had a fantastic day dominating his competition in both drills and competition periods.  He displayed great arm talent and agility.  The returning Boardwalk Beast product showed off his athleticism during the agility portion of the day.  He has the ability to change direction and displays great overall agility skills.  Participants went through a variety of drills to display their overall agility ability as well as speed.  He exhibited quickness and excellent lateral movement throughout the agility station period of the workout.

Jake immediately turned heads with fantastic footwork and technique in position specific drills, especially for a 6.0’ 175 pound high school freshman.  His footwork was smooth and sharp, steps were fast and technically sound, with little head movement all the while keeping great balance throughout each rep regardless if it was in drill work or competition period.  Jake made good decisions as to when and when not to throw certain footballs.   Offensively he really opened it up when it came to the team work period.  He displayed great field awareness and timing, even with a group of unfamiliar WR’s.

In terms of physical ability, he displayed that he has the arm talent to put the ball in the best spot for his WR’s to make plays.  You could tell his Football knowledge and IQ are above average in terms of overall understanding of route depths and expectation of timing and when the ball should be thrown.

Jake will move up a level from U14 to U15 where he will compete against some of the best talent in the country.  His potential to grow both mentally and physically are extremely high.  Garrett has done everything in his freshman year to put himself in a great position to lead the U15s.  His body continues to mature and grow.  Jake is a true competitor and will improve with every practice and game played.  I can see this guy only adding to an already existing core of new and returning U15 Beasts.
