3 min readLaviska Shenault Jr, Colorado, Junior, 6’2, 220lbs, WR
Highlights:
Bio:
After becoming a star at Desoto High School in Texas, that has produced stars like Von Miller, Laviska Shenault Jr soon became a household name at the University of Colorado
Accolades:
Career Stats (27 Games): 149 Receptions-1943 Yards-10 TD
Strengths:
Lakiska Shenault Jr is a match-up nightmare on the perimeter. Shenault is built like a running back weighing almost 220lbs at 6’2. However, his build never slowed down his ability to separate from DBs in both man and off-man coverage. His ability to run past defenders at his size is impressive. Shenault’s athleticism is out of this world because he has shown the ability to make difficult catches in traffic with defenders draped all over him. However, his biggest asset is ability after the catch. Shenault’s run after catch ability might be the best in his draft class, his ability to run like a running back after he catches the ball makes him a terror for opposing defenses especially in open field.
Areas to Improve:
As gifted of an athlete that Shenault is, there are some things that need to improve about his game. He’s still a very raw player that has not fully mastered the route tree, Colorado did a great job in making sure they had a system designed to allow him to catch the ball and be special. Shenault seemed disinterested at times when it came to blocking but with his size and frame he has all the tools to be great in run blocking for perimeter runs. Laviska is a great prospect with loads of potential, the one thing that will scare teams is his durability. Shenault missed a number of games throughout his career and had to play through a series of injuries which derailed his production at times. His health will be major in his longevity at the next level.
