Position Overview

Coach Schuman’s NUC Sports is seeking experienced, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Combine Testers and Position Evaluators to conduct NFL-style athletic testing and football-specific evaluations for youth and high school athletes. Evaluators will assess athletes both individually and in group settings, with a strong emphasis on position-specific skills, athletic performance, football IQ, and competitive traits.

This role is critical in delivering credible, consistent, and high-level evaluations that align with college and professional football standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Combine Testing Responsibilities
• Administer and oversee NFL-style combine testing, including but not limited to:
• 40-yard dash
• Pro agility (5-10-5)
• Vertical jump
• Broad jump
• L-drill / 3-cone drill
• Position-specific athletic drills
• Ensure accurate timing, measurements, and data recording
• Maintain testing integrity, safety, and consistency
• Explain drills clearly and professionally to athletes

Position Evaluation Responsibilities

Conduct individual and group evaluations by position, including:

• Quarterback (QB)
• Running Back (RB)
• Wide Receiver (WR)
• Tight End (TE)
• Offensive Line (OL)
• Defensive Line (DL)
• Linebacker (LB)
• Defensive Back (CB/S)
• Specialists (K/P) where applicable

Evaluate athletes on:

• Position-specific technique
• Athleticism and movement efficiency
• Football IQ and decision-making
• Competitiveness, effort, and coachability
• Physical traits relevant to position projection

Provide objective, fair, and consistent evaluations

Identify strengths, weaknesses, and developmental areas

Reporting & Feedback

Complete written evaluations, grading rubrics, and scorecards

Input data into NUC Sports evaluation systems or platforms

Assist with rankings, star ratings, and athlete reports when required

Communicate professionally with staff, coaches, and event leadership

Offer constructive feedback to athletes when appropriate

Required Qualifications

Strong football background as a:

• Coach (high school, college, or professional)
• Former college or professional player
• Experienced evaluator or scout
• Deep understanding of football fundamentals and positional play
• Experience with combine testing protocols preferred
• Ability to evaluate athletes objectively and consistently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, competitive event environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work long event days outdoors
• Professional demeanor representing Coach Schuman’s NUC Sports brand

Preferred Qualifications

• College coaching or playing experience
• Prior experience with combines, showcases, or recruiting evaluations
• Knowledge of recruiting standards and athlete projection
• Ability to work multiple events throughout the season
• Familiarity with athlete grading scales or evaluation rubrics

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, move, and demonstrate drills for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move testing equipment when necessary
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions

Key Responsibilities

Combine Testing & Measurement

• Administer and oversee NFL-style combine testing with accuracy, consistency, and professionalism
• Properly conduct and record results for:
  • 40-yard dash
  • Pro Agility (5-10-5)
  • Vertical jump
  • Broad jump
  • L-Drill / 3-Cone
  • Position-specific athletic drills
• Ensure testing protocols, start mechanics, timing methods, and measurement standards are followed
• Maintain athlete safety and proper warm-up procedures
• Verify and confirm results before submission

Position-Specific Athlete Evaluation

• Evaluate athletes in individual drills, group drills, and competitive reps by position
• Assess athletes based on:
  • Athleticism and movement efficiency
  • Position-specific technique and fundamentals
  • Football IQ, instincts, and decision-making
  • Competitiveness, effort, and toughness
  • Physical traits and positional projection
• Apply NUC Sports grading rubrics and evaluation standards consistently
• Identify strengths, weaknesses, and developmental needs for each athlete

Data, Reporting & Rankings

• Accurately complete evaluation scorecards, written reports, and digital entries
• Assist with athlete rankings, star ratings, and event recognition when assigned
• Ensure all data is submitted on time and free of errors
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of athlete evaluations and results

Professional Conduct & Brand Representation

• Represent NUC Sports and Coach Schuman with professionalism at all times
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with athletes, parents, staff, and coaches
• Maintain neutrality and avoid conflicts of interest
• Uphold the credibility and reputation of the NUC Sports evaluation platform

Event Operations & Team Collaboration

• Arrive prepared, on time, and ready for full event days
• Assist with event setup, flow, and breakdown as needed
• Work collaboratively with:
  • Event directors
  • Other evaluators
  • Operations and logistics staff
• Adapt quickly to schedule changes, weather, or field conditions

Athlete Experience & Development

• Help create a positive, competitive, and educational environment
• Provide constructive feedback when appropriate and authorized
• Encourage effort, coachability, and professionalism among athletes
• Ensure athletes clearly understand drills, expectations, and transitions

Ethics, Compliance & Integrity

• Follow all NUC Sports evaluation policies and codes of conduct
• Do not recruit, solicit, or privately promote athletes at NUC events
• Disclose any prior relationships with athletes or programs
• Never alter evaluations due to outside pressure
• Report concerns related to bias, safety, or misconduct to event leadership

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in evaluator training, calibration sessions, and updates
• Stay current on football trends, positional techniques, and recruiting standards
• Actively seek feedback to improve evaluation accuracy and consistency
